Sara+George

This wedding is special. It’s filled to the brim with perfect little touches,   Here are some words the gorgeous Sara wrote. It’s just a little peek into the love this amazing couple shares, and show just how meaningful this day was. Which just warms my heart right up. So set aside some time to not only get lost in these photos but also their sweet love story.

From Sara… “I absolutely loved organizing our wedding. It’s funny because I had this silly notion that I would never find someone to spend my life with, so had never really given any consideration or thought into what I wanted. I certainly wasn’t one of those girls who had every detail planned out in her head.

That all changed however when George proposed. Organizing our big day was fun, stressful, passionate, expressive and worth every emotion we encounter. I spent the 10 months in the lead up to our day, planning, creating & day-dreaming concepts, style, scouring through every blog, magazine and website out there; there are after all so many beautiful moments and ideas around. I still catch myself looking and admiring them on a daily basis.

I met George on the Manly Ferry in 2006 and it was love at first site. I was new to Sydney and couldn’t believe I had met such a handsome and charming man.  Six years on, George proposed at North Head, our favorite spot where he took me on walk to the beautiful and iconic heads (and entrance) to Sydney harbor. I don’t know who was more emotional as we both cried, although I think it was George. Looking back it was quite funny as George had a busted his ankle and when he tried to get down on one knee it hurt too much so he had to get down on two. The ring was designed by George and it was stunning, I had never seen anything so beautiful and to this day I still catch myself staring at it.

George is my best friend, my partner in crime, my confident. I look up to him and respect him and I couldn’t imagine a life without him. He has my heart and I have his. It’s cliché but our day was so special and unforgettable because we vowed to love and cherish each other for the rest of our lives because we love each other dearly. The day was the beginning of our new life together and so far it has been fab! To explain the subject title, we created our wedding invitations with the theme of ‘The Farmer & Showgirl’ as George’s family own a farm in England and I used to be a dancer at the Lido in Paris. It was a fun play on our pasts.

George and I wanted to create an elegant event with a lot of the decorations and touches created by hand. So I spent 9 months in the lead up to our day (with the help of George and my amazing parents) making literally everything. I made 277 hand sculpted silk flowers that were used for all of the bouquets, hair pieces, button holes, hair accessories, bridesmaid’s cuffs and ring pillow plus the table and ceremony decorations. I am really proud of the flowers especially as I am so passionate about making them, they turned out better than I had imagined in my mind”.

Sara has since turned this passion of making Hand sculpted flowers. Head over to her website for a look at the magic she produces.
